Michael Wacha is expected to start for Kansas City against Tomoyuki Sugano. Wacha enters with the lower ERA and offers the Royals the more dependable starting option.
The biggest concern is Kansas City’s bullpen. The Royals have struggled badly in the ninth inning and cannot be trusted to protect another narrow advantage. That makes it important for Bobby Witt Jr. and the Kansas City lineup to take advantage of Coors Field and build a multi-run lead.
Colorado will almost certainly create scoring opportunities at home, but the Royals have the better starter and enough offensive talent to win a high-scoring game.

Leg 4: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Boston Red Sox

However, the Dodgers have performed well against left-handed starters, entering Friday with a 19–12 record in those matchups. Los Angeles also owns one of baseball’s deepest lineups and has consistently been difficult to defeat at home.
Shohei Ohtani’s availability must be monitored because of recent knee soreness, but the Dodgers still possess enough offensive depth to produce without him at full strength. Los Angeles scored six runs against Seattle on Thursday despite Ohtani being held out of the starting lineup.
Available Friday odds listed the Dodgers around -178 to -182, reflecting the market’s confidence in Los Angeles despite Suárez starting for Boston.
Boston may hold the early pitching advantage, but Los Angeles has the stronger lineup, home-field position and ability to control the late innings.
