Milwaukee Brewers vs San Francisco Giants Prediction, Picks & Odds

Match Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers visit Oracle Park to open a three-game National League series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday, July 27, 2026. First pitch is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. ET.

Milwaukee is expected to start right-hander Brandon Sproat, while San Francisco is projected to counter with veteran right-hander Tyler Mahle. Sproat enters with an ERA slightly above 5.00, while Mahle has also struggled to consistently prevent runs this season.

The Brewers arrive in San Francisco with a 65-39 record after defeating Colorado 11-2 in Sunday’s series finale. Milwaukee won two of three against the Rockies and produced 19 runs across the final two games of the series.

San Francisco enters after taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels. The Giants won the first two games but missed an opportunity to complete the sweep, losing Sunday’s finale 4-3. San Francisco remains well below .500 and has struggled to turn short winning stretches into sustained momentum.

Neither projected starter provides a significant pitching advantage, so this matchup should be decided by lineup depth, bullpen quality and overall reliability. Milwaukee holds the advantage in each area and is the preferred moneyline selection.

Milwaukee Brewers Analysis

Milwaukee’s offence enters Monday in excellent form.

The Brewers scored 11 runs Sunday after producing eight the previous day. Luis Lara delivered two RBI doubles in the finale, Cooper Pratt added a two-run double and Andrew Vaughn contributed a home run and a sacrifice fly. Milwaukee received production from several different parts of the order rather than relying on one star.

That lineup depth should be important against Mahle.

The Giants starter has veteran experience, but his elevated ERA suggests opponents have consistently created scoring opportunities against him. Milwaukee should remain patient, force Mahle into deep counts and avoid allowing him to work through quick innings.

Brice Turang, William Contreras, Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio give the Brewers a strong combination of contact, speed, plate discipline and power. Pratt, Lara and Vaughn have also provided valuable production lower in the order.

Sproat represents the primary concern for Milwaukee.

His season-long ERA is above 5.00, meaning San Francisco should receive opportunities if he struggles with command. The Brewers do not need Sproat to dominate for seven innings. Five competitive frames while limiting walks and home runs should be enough if the offence continues producing.

Milwaukee’s bullpen should also provide an advantage once the starters leave. The Brewers have consistently been better equipped to protect leads and manage close games than San Francisco.

San Francisco Giants Analysis

The Giants showed encouraging offensive signs during their weekend series against the Angels.

San Francisco scored seven runs Friday and nine Saturday, with Rafael Devers playing a major role in both victories. Devers delivered the walk-off hit in the opener and continued producing during the second game as the Giants secured the series.

The offence was less effective Sunday.

San Francisco fell behind and could not complete the comeback despite a late two-run double from Luis Arraez. The loss continued a season-long pattern in which the Giants have struggled when trailing during the later innings.

Devers remains the most dangerous hitter in the lineup, while Arraez, Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee give San Francisco additional threats. Sproat must avoid issuing walks ahead of those hitters or allowing them to bat with multiple runners on base.

Mahle must keep Milwaukee from establishing an early advantage. The Brewers have been swinging the bat well, and San Francisco cannot afford to expose its bullpen for five or six innings against such a deep lineup.

The Giants’ best path to victory involves Mahle outperforming his recent numbers and the offence attacking Sproat before he settles into the game.

Why We Like This Pick

Milwaukee is the stronger overall team and enters with significantly better season-long results.

The Brewers are 26 games above .500, while San Francisco remains well below the break-even mark. Milwaukee has also produced 19 runs over its previous two games and is receiving contributions throughout the batting order.

The projected starting matchup is relatively even, which creates some risk. Sproat has not been dependable enough to make Milwaukee an automatic choice, and San Francisco has enough offensive talent to punish him.

However, the Brewers have the deeper lineup, stronger bullpen and far greater overall consistency. Milwaukee is also better equipped to win if the game becomes a high-scoring contest.

The moneyline is preferred over the run line because Oracle Park and the uncertain starting matchup could keep the final margin close.

Final Prediction

Expect both teams to generate scoring opportunities against starters with elevated ERAs.

San Francisco should create some early pressure through Devers and Arraez, but Milwaukee’s deeper lineup should gradually take control. The Brewers produce against Mahle and the Giants bullpen before their superior relief staff protects the lead.

Final Score Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers 6, San Francisco Giants 4
