The Red Sox lineup also continues to receive production from different hitters.
Seigler was the star Friday, while Ceddanne Rafaela added a home run and Romy Gonzalez delivered the decisive RBI double in the eighth inning. Boston’s offence has not depended entirely on one superstar during its recent run. That depth makes the Red Sox difficult to contain over nine innings.
Boston has now won 16 of its last 17 games. That level of momentum is impossible to ignore, especially with the Red Sox playing at Fenway Park and sending one of their most reliable starters to the mound.
The bullpen must still perform better after allowing Toronto to erase Friday’s four-run deficit. However, Boston responded immediately and Aroldis Chapman successfully protected the lead in the ninth.
